Paul Wasicka could have been the first Texan to win an event of Texas Hold'em poker. However, he was defeated by Gold, which prevented that from happening. On the other hand, Wasicka still managed to win over $6 million as a runner up. Out of the 8,772 entrants in the tournament, he was able to take part in the final table, which allowed him to take home some winnings.
Wasicka first learned to play blackjacks before poker. He played blackjack when he was on a skiing trip in Vancouver. Wasicka started to enjoy playing cards when he won a $100 from a $10 bet. After playing blackjack for quite some time, he earned more than $17,000. Since then, he began thinking of playing cards as a living. He earned $146,460 by reaching the 15th place in the main event. A few months after joining the Five Start World Poker Classic, Wasicka returned to Las Vegas to join the 2006 World Series of Poker. He joined in two tournaments of WSOP and had money finishes, which made him an instant multi-millionaire afterwards. Because he managed to get into the second place at the WSOP, Paul Wasicka became famous in the world of professional poker players.
After coming as a runner-up in the championship event of the WSOP, he was pretty quiet playing poker. He has not made name for himself until he took winnings in 2007. He managed to generate over $1 million in just the first 4 months of the year. This also includes his winnings in the NBC National Heads-up Poker Championship.
